ROSE ISLAND: An Almost Accurate Account of Days Gone By
Born from the river legends surrounding the abandoned Rose Island Amusement Park, Rose Island begins where history ends and imagination takes over. Inspired by Terry Chambers’ own years living aboard a boat moored just across the river from the vanished park, this historical fiction, romance and murder mystery all rolled into one takes readers back to the summer of 1936, the final season before the devastating 1937 Ohio River flood changed everything.
Two very different young women find their lives unexpectedly intertwined: a privileged Louisville socialite and a spirited young woman from the hollers of Appalachia. Their unlikely friendship draws them into a twisting adventure of romance, murder, lost treasure, buried family secrets and an ancient legend involving the restless spirit of a descendant of sixth-century Welsh Prince Madoc.
Then comes the flood, sweeping away Rose Island and leaving its secrets behind.
The amusement park disappeared. The mysteries didn’t.
